Board Member

John Wojcik, DBA, JD

John is a Leadership Anne Arundel Flagship-23 graduate and teaches at Anne Arundel Community College as an Assistant Professor in the Legal Studies Institute. A recent transplant, John and his wife sailed their 44’ sailboat from Traverse City, Michigan to Annapolis after John retired in 2022 as a military attorney (Judge Advocate General). John retired as a Colonel and served 20 years on active duty in addition to 12 additional years as an Army National Guardsman. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service in Afghanistan in 2010-2011. Predating John’s active-duty service, he practiced law in Michigan for 6 years, where he represented physicians, health care systems, and insurance companies.

John is currently a volunteer captain with Sail Beyond Cancer-Annapolis, which harnesses the power of wind, water, and sail to provide relief to individuals living with cancer. He’s provided strategic leadership on advisory Boards for Thomas Cooley Law School’s Service to Soldiers Program, Ingham County (Michigan) Veterans Treatment Court, and University of Michigan Veterans Legal Clinic. He served on Boards of Directors for the YMCA of Greater Lansing, Ft. Custer Historical Society, and Camp Grayling Officers Club. From 2015-2022, John served as a Board member and Board Chair on the State of Michigan Retirement Board as a gubernatorial appointee where he provided oversight for 3 state pension plans. He also taught Federal Government Contracting and Military Law as an adjunct at Thomas Cooley Law School for many years.

Dr. Wojcik earned his Doctor of Business Administration degree from Baker College and co-authored two books to help veterans transition from active duty: HR’s Mission Next (2023) and Mission Next (2022). He received his BA from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College, and Juris Doctor from Thomas Cooley Law School. He is a member of the Army and Navy Club, the Annapolis Fleet Reserve Club and is a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, Military Officers Association of America, National Guard Association of the U.S., and the Association of the U.S. Army.
