Art imitates life in this emotionally gripping story of courage that sheds light on the darkness of war. In August 1942, six Jewish children are hidden away by the resistance in the Chateau de Chambord, where paintings from Le Louvre are secretly stored. Hunted like prey by the Nazis, they escape to the surrounding woods and, with a shared sense of discovery, play, and adventure, begin to bond and protect each other. Camille Cottin (Call My Agent, House of Gucci) plays the shrewd museum curator, Rose, whose character was inspired by Rose Valland, a French art historian turned spy. Director/writer Mona Achache brings history alive by capturing on-screen the fear, loss, and hope that the children brilliantly convey.
